One Room Challenge 2021: Week 5- The Regroup Week, Vintage Rugs, Paint Colors, + More!
Welcome to week FIVE of the One Room Challenge. This week was the week of regrouping for me. I had to come to terms with the fact that everything I had planned for the space is just not going to happen in the 8 week timeline as I cannot get any contractors or subs scheduled with how busy everyone is. I want everything done right, and want to use people I trust, so I would rather wait than rush it. I have decided I will do two reveals instead! I will still do a reveal at the end of 8 weeks with a good deal of projects done- wallpaper, upstairs desk area, new dutch door, gallery wall/stair landing feature wall, light fixtures, and a partial (possibly entire) staircase runner.
One Room Challenge 2021: Week 3- Dutch Door, Wallpaper, + More Updates
{One Room Challenge Week 3 Update} Well this should be the week everything starts falling into place and I start rolling on this project. Unfortunately that is definitely not the case. None of my projects are going to plan so far and I can’t even get a quote for the renovation portion of my project from anyone. I’m feeling beyond frustrated and defeated this week, which I don’t let happen often. Here’s all the updates I have for this week:
Easy DIY Easter Egg Wreath
As soon as I saw these bright, retro colored plastic eggs at Target, I knew I had to make something with them for the playroom! They match so perfectly and the colors make me so happy! This is such an easy and quick craft to give you an extra little bit of spring decor that you can use year after year! You really can customize with any color eggs to fit your decor- whether it be neutral, bright, pastels, black and white, or even earth-tones.
Easy Spring Rainbow Snack Mix for St. Patrick's Day
Admittedly I am NOT a fan (at all!) of St. Patrick’s Day, BUT I do love spring colors and rainbows, so I decided to put my own twist on a fun St. Patrick’s Day snack mix! Like my other snack mixes, this one is a delicious sweet and salty mix perfect for the whole family or a party! You can enjoy this one all spring long and it will definitely brighten up your table or kitchen so much! Find all the ingredients and simple instructions for putting this one together below!
Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: How To Organize Your Fridge
Fridge organization- check! Another space done on our organizing challenge!
As usual, I broke this process up into a few different steps. Step one-cleaning and purging. This definitely was the longest part of this particular organizing challenge because my fridge needed it badly. I had a ton of expired food that was taking up space as well as lots of crumbs, dried spills, and crustiness throughout. Really the only things I used were Mr. Clean spray cleaner (you can sub in any spray cleaner for this though), Dawn, a MAGIC ERASER, and a vacuum. It definitely helped to remove EVERYTHING from the fridge for me so I could really clean all the nooks and crannies. This also allowed me to scrub shelves and drawers in the sink.
Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: How To Organize Your Nightstands
My nightstands are organized! Have you finished yours yet? I want to hear about your ideas and tricks in the comments below! I’m going to share the items I used to help me get organized and a few little tricks I picked up that were a game changer for my bedside organization! To help, break this up into a couple small tasks instead of trying to tackle it all at once like we did with the linen closet. I spent one block of time cleaning out and purging everything I didn't need and doing some preliminary organizing.
Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: Linen Closet
Our next finished space for the Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge is the Linen Closet. I decided to go for a printed wallpaper to add a little pop of color and pattern to an otherwise blah space. You can see all the closets that inspired me, and read about the purging and organizing process here. Applying the wallpaper only took me about an hour, but made a HUGE impact. I’m so happy with how it turned out and all the items I added to help keep it organized. I added so much space by just transferring a few items to the door and adding those shelf dividers. All of these products were purchased from Amazon, so this is a perfect project that is relatively easy to accomplish and makes your home function SO much better. Check out the end results and shop all the pieces I used below!
DIY Vintage Christmas Village Makeover
My favorite DIYs are those that give new life to outdated decorations and vintage pieces. I have had this outdated Christmas village sitting in my garage for years and always have wanted to figure out a way to include it in my Christmas decor as I love the tradition and idea of village sets. This year, while searching for some Christmas decor ideas for the playroom, I had the idea to paint the set in bright colors to match the room. This was so easy and fun and such a great way to update and reuse these old sets. Whether you go with bright and bold colors or just paint it solid white, there’s so many fun ways to update the classic pieces. Check out the before photos and instructions below!
