Fun fact: As a senior in high school I applied to the Interior Design program at University of Kentucky - and got DENIED! I never understood why. My grades, long list of extracurricular activities, and ACT scores made me more than qualified. I moved forward with my next choice of major (Art Education) without giving it a second thought. I graduated with an art education degree and although I enjoyed my major, I longed for more flexibility and creativity and had no desire to continue doing “school” things, getting more certifications, and following lots of rules and regulations for what I had to teach, and how to teach it. I didn’t end up teaching a day in my life. I worked at Street Scene Vintage throughout college (my first real job) and continued there after. I fell in LOVE with retail and every aspect of the business. My bosses taught me so much and really let me take ownership in projects and try out my ideas. I started buying and selling vintage items on my own and Street Scene let me share space in their booth at Feather Your Nest Antiques. I needed to come up with a name (and fast) .. so I decided on a whim to go with Miss Molly Vintage, after our beloved family dog, Molly.

After a few years of selling part-time, I took the leap to full-time and added my blog and online shop. On my blog I shared my home decor, particularly holiday decor, and also documented our entire “fixer upper” home renovation start to finish. Due to the popularity of these posts, I began receiving a lot of requests for… you guessed it, interior design. I decided on a whim to create some holiday decorating packages and I booked up immediately, and well, the rest is history. I take great joy in saying- UK College of Interior Design, LOOK AT ME NOW! I now have a waitlist year-round for decorating, I’ve helped hundreds of people decorate their homes, and I am working on my biggest project yet: designing an entire hotel - The Rickhouse. And I’m not stopping here either. I want to have my own book (or two) and a home decor line in Target (huge dreams I know). It may have taken longer than 4 years and a lot of hustle, but in the end, I ended up right where I needed to be and get to work with all my creative passions daily. I have never needed a piece of paper to tell me what I can and can’t do, and you don’t either.
