One Room Challenge: Playroom Makeover - Week 2
Well the room doesn’t look a whole lot different YET but I feel like I still made a lot of progress this week! I have pretty much nailed down all the big design decisions and the layout of the room. Classic Black + White Silhouette Prints- Order Your Custom Prints!
These custom silhouettes were such a hit for mother’s day that I have decided to continue to add them year-round in the Baby + Child section of our shop! These make such a great gift and I love the classic look!
All orders are customized by the talented Ashley at Rainwater Photography. You will receive an email to submit your own photo (with instructions) after purchasing. From there, Ashley will work her magic (allow about 1 week turnaround time), then you will recieve your digital files! You can use these files to print as many copies as you like, in whatever sizes, or types of prints you prefer!
DIY Giant Playroom Chalkboard on a Budget
I kept seeing these cute chalkboard walls in the rooms I was saving for inspiration for our playroom makeover and fell in love with the idea of an oversized chalkboard to fill one of the walls. We decided to tackle this project ourselves, as I wasn’t able to find a pre-made chalkboard like this for a good price. This entire project cost about $30 to make (assuming you already have the tools you need!). Below I’m laying out what supplies you need and step by step instructions for this easy project! You really could make this other shapes as well besides the house shape if you want! It’s such a fun and functional way to fill an empty way in a nursery, kid’s room, or playroom!
One Room Challenge: Intro to My Project!
I am so very excited to participate in my very first One Room Challenge starting THIS week! I have always loved following along with this challenge and have found many of my favorite bloggers and designers through it. I really am kind of kicking myself that I hadn’t participated sooner, but the timing finally worked out perfectly so here we are!
This week there’s not a lot of progress to be shared but I wanted to reveal which room I am going to be working on AND some of my ideas and inspiration for the space. I can’t wait to hear your feedback and hope you are exctied to follow along with the transformation of this space! So the space I will be making over is (drumrollll)……..
Taco Salad with Lime Marinated Steak + Jalapeno Ranch
My fave salad is a taco salad and when it’s combined with delicious steak and creamy jalapeno dressing, it doesn’t get much better! This taco salad is no exception: fresh sauteed peppers, shredded cheese, crispy tortilla chips, tangy corn and black bean salsa, and the most flavorful lime-marinated steak. I knew this salad was going to be great when my husband tasted the first piece of steak and said "What is this marinade? Everything in life needs to be marinated in this!" I topped it all with my homemade jalapeño ranch dressing that is my own spin on Chuy's creamy jalapeño dip.

Easy Grilled Steak Board for a Crowd with McCormick Grill Mates Marinade
Grilling season is upon us and there’s nothing I love more than combining a cookout with my love of charcuterie boards. I’ve put together a few steak boards before (like this one here) and they really are the perfect way to entertain in the summer! Everyone can share and create their own custom plate of bites and combinations that they love! The board I am sharing today is a super basic board featuring a grilled flank steak marinated in McCormick Grill Mate’s delicious Brown Sugar Bourbon marinade! Their marinades are so quick and easy to use and definitely added some major flavor that took the steak up a notch!
