DIY Aged Pots + Vases | Pottery Barn Look for Less Using Thrift Store Finds

I’m always on the lookout for great home decor DIY’s especially when it involves up-cycling thrifted finds! I recently came across this “found pot” DIY on Jaci Daily’s Instagram and knew I had to try it ASAP! I, like Jaci, am obsessed with these “found” pots, planters, and vases seen below- they have the perfect amount of wear, age, and texture that give them an antique, “found” look. I definitely am not ever paying that much for a vase or planter though, BUT thanks to the quick DIY I am sharing today- you can get the look for much, much less! Even when you find these vintage or at antique stores now they are usually super expensive since they’re becoming so popular (olive pots is what many are referred to as).

Entryway Refresh: Before + After

As you might have seen on my Instagram, I gave my entryway a little “refresh” right before Christmas! I wanted to modernize the space a bit on a budget and while it’s still a work in progress, I’m loving the updates so far! I was able to find the perfect entryway table at The Domestic in Lexington and gave it a makeover with some paint. I also used the magic light trick to add sconces to the wall on each side of this new round mirror which really gave the space a clean, modern look (find the full post about how to do that HERE!). As far as accessories and finishing touches, I feel like that may be something I continue to update seasonally. I’m still not sold on the bench at the end of the space, but it works for now.

Office Renovation Update

Office Renovation Update

I’ve been updating this big “bonus room” space above our garage into an office/workspace for client meetings, creative projects, crafting, sewing, and more. You might have seen updates about this space when I shared about my DIY Marble-Looking Countertops and I’m so excited to share the progress that has been made since then. I still have a lot more projects in mind for this space but it has come so far from the nasty carpet and ceiling fan room seen in the “before” pictures below! I am finally able to work and enjoy this space and am having so much fun putting the finishing touches on everything. Check out more before and after pictures below!

Cook Once, Eat All Week: Taco Ground Beef

We eat a ton of beef in our house and it’s definitely my husband’s favorite food. Thankfully it is also the easiest ingredient to get the MOST recipes out of to feed a family on a budget! Today I’m sharing how to put together a whole week of meals with one staple recipe: my taco ground beef. Make a big batch of this and you can have burrito bowls, tacos, nachos, salads, casseroles, and more! You can also freeze this if you want to spread out your taco inspired recipes and not eat them all in the same short week. I’m listing my favorite recipes to use this in below, but really the possibilities are endless!

The Best Budget-Friendly Neutral Rugs

Rugs are a perfect way to cozy up a room, add some touches of color or pattern, and tie the space together. However, rugs can be expensive and usually are one of the hardest elements to narrow down just the right look for your space. Today I’ve rounded up some of my favorite neutral rugs that are all under $300 and come in sizes at least 5’x7’ or larger!

Our Fixer Upper: Playroom Makeover Progress

Another project we have been working on lately at home is transforming this extra room on our main floor into a playroom for JW! It’s still a work in progress but SO much better than before- scroll down to see some scary before photos . This is one of the only rooms we didn’t touch AT ALL during our renovation (not even paint) because we really didn’t have a use for it at the time. It makes a perfect playroom because it’s on our main floor right off the entry and living room but still completely separated and able to be hidden when messy (which is always). I have a lot of fun projects in mind to make it even better but just wanted to share the progress so far.

Modern Eclectic Bungalow Bathroom Renovation: Before + After

Today I’m excited to share this modern, eclectic bathroom renovation I designed and completed for a client. The impact we were able to make on this relatively small space is pretty incredible. We had to basically reconfigure the entire space due to the location of the toilet being permanent and the client wanting a walk in shower instead of tub. Due to the slanted ceilings (this home is a bungalow so this upstairs has kind of an attic space feel), we had to get creative with the layout! We ended up using the slanted ceiling as part of the shower and putting the shower on the right side of the bathroom as soon as you walk in. We made the sink the first thing you see straight ahead from the door and then were also able to add a little storage nook in the corner too!
