Office Renovation Update
I’ve been updating this big “bonus room” space above our garage into an office/workspace for client meetings, creative projects, crafting, sewing, and more. You might have seen updates about this space when I shared about my DIY Marble-Looking Countertops and I’m so excited to share the progress that has been made since then. I still have a lot more projects in mind for this space but it has come so far from the nasty carpet and ceiling fan room seen in the “before” pictures below! I am finally able to work and enjoy this space and am having so much fun putting the finishing touches on everything. Check out more before and after pictures below!
DIY Marble-Look Countertops For Under $200
I am so excited to share with you all this super simple and inexpensive DIY for marble-look countertops on a budget! While we were planning and working on my office studio renovation, I knew I wanted lots of storage for the back wall. I ended up finding a full set of cabinets that were just the sizes I needed at the local Habitat Restore, painted them, and added new knobs. They actually came with countertops but they were pretty gross and had lots of weird cut-outs where various appliances/the sink were, so I couldn’t really reuse them. I love the look of white marble and knew I wanted to have something similar, especially so I could use these countertops for staging photos and as a mini backdrop. BUT as I am trying to complete this renovation on a MAJOR budget (spending as little as possible), real marble definitely wasn’t a possibility, especially since the back cabinets span 16 feet!
Clean + Simple Modern Farmhouse Office Design Project
One of my favorite installs from this summer and a follower favorite as well was this modern farmhouse office project! We started with a pretty empty space but in a day transformed it into a bright + cozy office space that is much more functional and welcoming. We mostly stuck to neutrals in the room but I wanted to add warmth with lots of textures and different materials. There are lots of wood tones throughout, as well as pops of dark metal, and then we pulled in some cozy texture and pattern with the pillows, throw, curtains, and rug.
Our Fixer Upper: Office Renovation Progress
There’s been a few spaces we haven’t even touched since moving in to our fixer upper. One of those spaces is this awesome bonus room space above our garage which was undoubtedly the nastiest room of the house when we first moved in. The space was filled with badly stained (and stinky) carpet, holes in the walls, broken windows, dust and overall dinginess. We didn’t really need the space for anything right away, so it just sat there and became storage for the first few years we have lived here.
