One Room Challenge 2021: Week 6- Upstairs Desk Nook + WALLPAPER Sneak Peek!

How is it already Week 6?! I feel like this year’s challenge is moving twice as fast as last years! This week I FINALLY feel like I’m making progress. It’s still going to be a sprint to the finish line but I’m finally getting somewhere and finally have some exciting peeks to show you (including WALLPAPER!). I will link all my sources for everything I’m sharing this week at the end of this post.

This week I have totally been focused on the upstairs desk nook. I painted the desk and decided on a trim color because these will be the same color - Evening Eclipse by Valspar. I also added new knobs to the desk (from Hobby Lobby). I updated these a bit by brightening up the brass with a gold metallic paint pen. This desk originally had very old knobs that were odd sized- so I removed those, filled the holes and drilled new holes for these new knobs. It still needs one more coat of paint and some poly but I love how it turned out!

We also installed the NEW light up here which I just love. It is a pendant light but I hung it on the shortest setting so it would look more like a flushmount and I think it is perfect. West Elm never lets me down with lighting and they have a few different styles/configurations of this light and I love them all. It is so classic and chic but also modern and updated. I’m doing something that is more of statement for the downstairs entry light so it will be a nice contrast.

I also found the perfect rug this week at Scout and it matches the wallpaper colors perfectly as well as the desk/chair colors too. I styled the desk a tiny bit with a vintage lamp and some books but I’m sure this will change a million times before the final reveal. I am also considering maybe a sconce coming out from the wall on the right side instead of a lamp on the table?

Ok I saved the best for last. You’ve probably already noticed in a few photos but HERE’S THE final WALLPAPER! I added it to the little nooks on each side of the window which will eventually become shelving and I love it so much. It’s the perfect mix of colors and I love the vintage feel and texture. I can’t wait to see it on the big wall downstairs but you’ll have to wait to see that until the final reveal!

xoxo
