One Room Challenge 2021: Week 1- Project Intro + Plans!
For this yearβs One Room Challenge I will be making over MY ENTRYWAY! I ultimately decided on this space because it has so much potential and I had a lot of fun projects in mind for it that I thought would be perfect to showcase in this challenge. Itβs not a space we use much right now or that I have enjoyed looking at lately, BUT Iβm excited to make it brighter, cozier, and hopefully more open (more on that below)!
Holiday Home Tour 2020: Entryway
Next up on my 2020 Holiday Home Tour is our entryway! If youβve followed along for a while, you may have heard me rave about The Domestic, one of my favorite local vintage shops. This season, I found this tufted vintage bench that fits my entryway perfectly. I love the pop of color it adds to the space. For the rest of the decor, I stuck with a pretty neutral color scheme, with some cozy, cabin vibes. Make sure you check out the battery powered twinkle lights Iβve linked below. They are a lifesaver in older homes like mine with minimal outlets!
Entryway Refresh: Before + After
As you might have seen on my Instagram, I gave my entryway a little βrefreshβ right before Christmas! I wanted to modernize the space a bit on a budget and while itβs still a work in progress, Iβm loving the updates so far! I was able to find the perfect entryway table at The Domestic in Lexington and gave it a makeover with some paint. I also used the magic light trick to add sconces to the wall on each side of this new round mirror which really gave the space a clean, modern look (find the full post about how to do that HERE!). As far as accessories and finishing touches, I feel like that may be something I continue to update seasonally. Iβm still not sold on the bench at the end of the space, but it works for now.
Magic Light Trick: How-To, FAQ, + Best Lights to Use Roundup
As soon as I first came across Nesting With Graceβs magic light trick, I knew I was going to use it non-stop all over my house! Basically this is a quick and inexpensive little hack to use sconces and lights without having to do any electrical wiring at all. You simply attach a battery powered puck light inside of the fixture and then mount it to the wall like normal. It is such a great way to add character and coziness to a space without having to pay an electrician or do something super permanent either! Iβve now done this trick several times throughout my home and for clients, so hereβs what Iβve learned so far:
Fall Home Tour 2018: Entryway
Iβm kicking off my fall home tour today starting with my autumn entryway! This is always one of my favorite areas of my home to decorate for the changing seasons. There are a few things I do every year as far as decor, like the pumpkins up the stairs and garland on the banister, but I also like to add a few new elements each year too. This year I decided to use this vintage floral painting as the inspiration for the space. I hung it off to the side instead of centered on the back wall and then added a hanging metal bin on the other side to balance it out. I filled the space with lots of different fall stems and greenery too, including the gorgeous fresh leaf wreath from Trader Joeβs that I hung on the mirror.
