One of the hardest parts of home ownership and the design process is making decisions about the perfect paint colors for your home. Paint truly is the easiest and most dramatic way to transform any room or update an outdated space without spending a ton of money. Not only is it difficult to narrow down all the options available, but also to know what shades work together for trim, doors, and ceilings, as well as how to create a color scheme that will flow seamlessly from room to room. I know how hard it is hard to make these decisions on your own, which is why today I will be opening up a select number of spots for custom color consultations with me in your home!Read More
I love to decorate mantles for every season, but for Christmas you can really go all out with all the trimmings! From garlands and lights, to wreaths and stockings- the possibilities are endless! I especially love Christmas mantles that incorporate less-traditional holiday decor and super unique and eclectic arrangements. Here are my top 15 favorite swoon-worthy holiday mantles!
Today I had the privilege of doing a little segment discussing holiday decorating tips on a local news show, Midday Kentucky. If you didn't get to catch the segment live, I've linked it for you below! I was so nervous leading up to this interview that I didn't really tell anyone about it in advance! My plan was to just pretend it didn't happen if I said something stupid, tripped, or did something embarrassing during the interview! Thankfully none of that happened (I think) and I survived! Live TV is such an exciting challenge and before I knew it, it was already over! Thanks to the team at Midday Kentucky for giving me the opportunity to come on the show, and especially to Katie for being so kind and helpful with her interview. Also a special thanks to the gals at Hartley Social for setting this up and joining me behind the scenes today. Check out the full video + some behind-the-scenes photos below!
It is only fitting that on my birthday two of my favorite things would collide, Target + Magnolia! I have been bursting with excitement for this collab for the past few months and I could hardly believe that it was being debuted on my birthday- best present ever! I decided to play it safe and shop online to ensure that I could get what I wanted. Target allowed you to see all the items before they were released and add them to your "favorites" list but you could not add them to your cart until after midnight. For some reason, Target likes to be super top secret about these things and not release new collections exactly at midnight or even tell the public exactly what time the new collections will be available online. I seriously sat up till 1:30 AM clicking refresh over and over and finally fell asleep; then woke up an hour later, and was finally able to add everything to my cart!
It took some serious narrowing down for me to get my cart down to a semi-reasonable amount and not purchase everything! I love everything about this collection especially the simplicity and timeless style of all the pieces. The simple black, white, and green color scheme is perfect for the holidays and beyond and I'm thinking I will copy this same look in my living room Christmas decor this year. I also love the price point and that all everything is so affordable! Below I've linked up my absolute favorite pieces that I purchased on my first round (yes I'm sure I'll be back for more!) of shopping this collection. You can click on any of the photos to see more details and to shop that piece! Which items are your favorite? Did you head to Target early to check out the new collection? Let me know in the comments below!
Last week I completed this gorgeous dining room project and I've been dying to share the end product with all of you! This room was really a blank slate and we pretty much started with just the table and chairs with some bare empty walls. I decorating the living room of this couple's home as well this summer, and during that process went ahead and began hanging some of the wall decor in here. I had originally purchased these two old chippy doors for the living room, but we ended up no needing them in there after all. These ended up being the perfect focal point for the dining room centered behind the table. I love the addition of these metal planters on top too! I added some blue and white faux stems and greenery to bring out the colors of the chairs.
The next step was choosing a piece of furniture for the back wall. I have to admit that I was stumped with this at first, just because the dining table was very traditional and formal, but I knew this client loved the farmhouse look. We decided to choose a piece in a contrasting color so that we wouldn't have to worry about competing wood tones/textures. This elegant charcoal blue buffet has a French Country flair that perfectly blends farmhouse and traditional elements. My client also loved the idea of open shelving, so we used some simple metal brackets from Home Depot with stained wood pieces on top.
I then added the finishing touches on the dining table, buffet, and shelving using mostly dishware my client already had with a few extra accessories. You can see a little step by step video of my shelf decorating process above! I've also linked a lot of the pieces that I used to pull together this space below for you to shop. I'm currently booked up for decorating services through the end of the year but you can always head to our Design page, fill out the inquiry form. and I will be happy to place you on my waiting list for the next available opening!
I recently had the privilege of styling the dreamiest wedding shoot coordinated by my good friend and photographer, Sarah Dunn, at the cutest farm in Winchester, Kentucky. Sarah did such an amazing job at pulling together all the vendors as well as putting together the concept for the entire shoot. We both wanted to do something bold and bright with plenty of bohemian flair and I think the finished photos are just that and more! Sarah really knocked it out of the park with these, not to mention there was an ACTUAL proposal at the end of our shoot between our sweet model couple! The entire day could not have been more perfect! I would highly recommend all of the vendors used for this shoot if you have an upcoming wedding or special event, and I've linked all of them below for you to check out along with some of my favorite photos from the shoot!

I'm throwing it way back for this week's Fixer Upper Friday to one of the first episodes from Season 1. This renovation will always stand out as one of the best ever mostly because of the amazing atrium room that sat in the middle of the house! Most people would have torn out this room and completely reconfigured the space, but Joanna found a way to make it so charming and work perfectly for this family! Having any type of atrium or greenhouse attached to my home is basically my ultimate dream, but having it smack dab in the middle of the house?! It doesn't get much better than that! Unique features like this are why I find myself falling in love with the 80's midcentury modern homes. The renovations that Chip and Joanna have done of this style of home have consistently been some of my favorites on Fixer Upper. Even if you don't have your own atrium room, you can still duplicate this cozy, greenhouse look on your porch, patio, or even a potting shed! I've linked everything that you need below from accessories to furniture to lighting!
It's finally patio weather season and there's nothing better than a cozy + inviting outdoor space. I'm helping several clients with porch and patio designs right now, so I've definitely got outdoor decor on the brain! I like to think of these spaces as just another room of your home that should be equally as cozy and beautiful! Since these areas are usually used as a summer entertaining space, I recommend adding in some pops of color and fun decor elements that might even be a little outside of your normal style! Patterns, textures, and bright colors will definitely give your space that warm and inviting feel. Starting by picking a few pillows or an outdoor rug will give you a good direction on your color scheme for the space. As far as furniture, I recommend investing in pieces that are comfortable, durable, and neutral (and that includes neutral cushions!). Outdoor furniture can sometimes be pricey, but the more expensive pieces will probably last longer and be way more comfortable (so you'll end up using them more!). You may have space for both a sitting area and outdoor dining space, but if not choose which type of seating you think you will use the most.
A few of my essentials for decking out your space:
1. a printed outdoor rug
2. several outdoor pillows in mixed prints + colors
3. a couple of lanterns
4. mix + match side tables + a coffee table, pouf, or ottoman
5. cute string lights or twinkle lights for hanging above your space!
6. planters: all sizes including hanging, tabletop, + floor planters
I've put together some of my favorite patio picks that are available now in-stores for you below! Even better, all of these items can work + coordinate together to give you the super bright + modern patio space of your dreams! You can click on any of the photos below to see more details + pricing of any item too. Happy shopping and let me know how your patio decorating comes along!
