Elegant Farmhouse Dining Room Decorating

Last week I completed this gorgeous dining room project and I've been dying to share the end product with all of you!  This room was really a blank slate and we pretty much started with just the table and chairs with some bare empty walls.  I decorating the living room of this couple's home as well this summer, and during that process went ahead and began hanging some of the wall decor in here.  I had originally purchased these two old chippy doors for the living room, but we ended up no needing them in there after all.  These ended up being the perfect focal point for the dining room centered behind the table.  I love the addition of these metal planters on top too!  I added some blue and white faux stems and greenery to bring out the colors of the chairs.

The next step was choosing a piece of furniture for the back wall.  I have to admit that I was stumped with this at first, just because the dining table was very traditional and formal, but I knew this client loved the farmhouse look.  We decided to choose a piece in a contrasting color so that we wouldn't have to worry about competing wood tones/textures.  This elegant charcoal blue buffet has a French Country flair that perfectly blends farmhouse and traditional elements.  My client also loved the idea of open shelving, so we used some simple metal brackets from Home Depot with stained wood pieces on top.

I then added the finishing touches on the dining table, buffet, and shelving using mostly dishware my client already had with a few extra accessories.  You can see a little step by step video of my shelf decorating process above!  I've also linked a lot of the pieces that I used to pull together this space below for you to shop.  I'm currently booked up for decorating services through the end of the year but you can always head to our Design page, fill out the inquiry form. and I will be happy to place you on my waiting list for the next available opening!

xoxo
