One Room Challenge 2021: Week 2- The Great Wallpaper Debate

I haven’t wallpapered yet! This is just a mockup! Read on!

This past week I’ve been mostly focused on narrowing down selections for the space and meeting with more contractors about the renovation side of the project. I wanted to share the wallpapers I’m debating against, and just to warn you, there’s A LOT. I kept trying to narrow it down but then I would find more options! I shared a little on Instagram, and a lot of you asked for sources, so I figured this would be the easiest place to share since they’re all from different places! As you can tell, I’m leaning towards a more floral style print which I obviously love in all aspects of my life- clothing, decor. accessories, etc.

I’ve ordered a BUNCH of samples to look at in person, but in the meantime I’ll share my current favorites below as well as a few very rough mock-ups of the wallpaper shown in my entryway. I found two sites which let you test out the wallpaper on your own photo of your space very easily: here for York/Rifle brand papers and here for A-Street brand papers. The only catch is they only have a select few brands/styles available for you to try. Luckily several that I was considering were available on there so I’ll attach those mock-ups below. It’s obviously not perfect and I think the scale is still a little off but it does give you a good idea of color in the space. Also keep in mind, everything else in the room is likely changing- including trim color (and wall color will be freshened up to a bright white as well). I will also likely not be wallpapering the entire room just the left or back walls, so keep that in mind too!

While I love the more kitschy, fun floral prints of Rifle, I am leaning more towards the more antique/classic looking prints for this space in particular. I definitely think I will still use one of the Rifle papers in my powder room downstairs and maybe even another space too as I love them all so much. Those are just my initial thoughts and I’d love to hear your feedback! Since we are likely opening this space up more to the living room, I don’t want to make the entryway too cutesy/girly feeling as I don’t want to feel limited in my living room decor. So even though I am drawn to that style, I feel like I need to reign it in a bit for this particular space. Check out my week one post for more photos of my overall inspiration and style for the space here and I’ll also link some overall inspo photos below to give you an idea of the vibe I’m shooting for.

Let me know your thoughts and favorites below! I’ll add a poll at the end of this post for you to vote or feel free to comment below as well!

xoxo

Emily
