Best Ever Sausage Balls

Sausage balls have always been a holiday tradition at my house and it just doesn't feel like Christmas without them. I agree that these aren't the most attractive of appetizers, but they make up for it with how addicting and delicious they are!  They are also super simple to make and  have only 4 ingredients!  Year after year they are sure to be everyone's favorite appetizer that you just can't stop eating!

All you need for your sausage balls is:

1 lb. sausage

8 oz. cream cheese

8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 1/2 cups Bisquick

Preheat your oven to 400.  Take all of your ingredients and pour them into a large bowl.  I also added a dash of garlic pepper but that is totally optional.  I used my stand mixer, making the recipe even easier, but you can also mix by hand.   Mix all the ingredients until well combined- I know super appetizing looking, right?

Roll into balls (around 1 inch) and place on a pan or cookie sheet.  Most recipes don't include the cream cheese but it makes the sausage balls so much easier to work with!  Without it, they tend to be super powdery and fall apart.  Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and crispy!

I love how crunchy they get- you would think that they were fried!   They have just the right amount of both slightly spicy sausage and sharp cheddar flavor.  You really don't taste the cream cheese but it just binds the ingredients perfectly and makes them even more flavorful!  You can even freeze these uncooked and then have a ready-to-go appetizer or snack for any occasion (just add a few more minutes to the baking time if cooking from frozen).  I hope you enjoy one of my favorite Christmas traditions!

xoxo
