Fall Home Tour 2019: Cozy Modern Farmhouse Living Room
I’m excited to share the first room on this year’s fall home tour, my living room! This year I kept my overall neutral palette with pops of pale pastel and gold throughout. I also restyled my coffee table with some new pieces and overall simplified the shelf decor too. I always love how cozy the addition of fall decor makes a living space feel!
Crisp + Clean Entryway Design
I recently completed a little decor refresh for one of my former clients who wanted to update their farmhouse style decor to something more modern and clean. Their space was already beautiful (you can check out the “before” below), and really just needed some updating of accessories. We did get a new, larger console table to better fit the space, which really made a huge difference especially since it has such simple, clean lines. We combined lots of simple and classic pieces that overall created a crisp, clean, and modern space that will last for years to come.
3 Easy Fall Arrangements That Will Last All Season Long
Today I’m going to share how to quickly and easily put together 3 different fall arrangements that will last you all season long (and even for years to come, if stored properly!). All of these arrangements are modern, simple, and will coordinate with a variety of different decor styles. Everything we use can be purchased in our shop at The Amsden too, from the stems, to the tassels, to the jars! If you aren’t local though, you can find many of these items at a local craft shop, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, or Etsy. You can put any of these together in 5 minutes or less and there’s no floral arranging skills required!
DIY Marble-Look Countertops For Under $200
I am so excited to share with you all this super simple and inexpensive DIY for marble-look countertops on a budget! While we were planning and working on my office studio renovation, I knew I wanted lots of storage for the back wall. I ended up finding a full set of cabinets that were just the sizes I needed at the local Habitat Restore, painted them, and added new knobs. They actually came with countertops but they were pretty gross and had lots of weird cut-outs where various appliances/the sink were, so I couldn’t really reuse them. I love the look of white marble and knew I wanted to have something similar, especially so I could use these countertops for staging photos and as a mini backdrop. BUT as I am trying to complete this renovation on a MAJOR budget (spending as little as possible), real marble definitely wasn’t a possibility, especially since the back cabinets span 16 feet!

Pumpkin season is here and y’all know I’m officially pumpkin OBSESSED. Last year, I even went to a pumpkin AUCTION and bought an entire truckload of pumpkins just for my own decor (and I used every single one, and could have probably used more!). Since I invest so much time and money in pumpkins each year, I’m always on the lookout for new ideas for keeping my pumpkins fresh and pretty through the end of October. Let’s talk about light fixtures, specifically flush mounts. Over the years, I feel like flush mounts have gotten a bad rap, mostly due to the horrendous “nipple lights” that were a staple in homes throughout the late 80’s-90’s (if you don’t know what I’m talking about check out the photo below and you’ll GET IT). But unless you live in a home with tall ceilings in every single space or can lighting throughout, chances are you will need a few flush mount light fixtures. The great news is that we now have a ton of great options for these that can look beautiful and add a little personality to your space. Clean + Simple Modern Farmhouse Office Design Project
One of my favorite installs from this summer and a follower favorite as well was this modern farmhouse office project! We started with a pretty empty space but in a day transformed it into a bright + cozy office space that is much more functional and welcoming. We mostly stuck to neutrals in the room but I wanted to add warmth with lots of textures and different materials. There are lots of wood tones throughout, as well as pops of dark metal, and then we pulled in some cozy texture and pattern with the pillows, throw, curtains, and rug.
