My Top Picks from Magnolia's Hearth + Hand Holiday at Target
November is here and in the retail world that means we’re already in full holiday swing! Yesterday the new holiday line was released from Magnolia’s Hearth + Hand line at Target and there are SO many great decor pieces I wanted to share with you! A few of my favorites listed are items that were also available from the line last year! I really liked that they brought back a few of the most popular and key pieces that sold out so quickly last year! You can see how I styled many of them in my home in my 2017 Holiday Home Tour here. I marked below some of my top picks that I ordered last year and really loved (I would definitely purchase all of them again!) and I also marked a few of my must-haves for this year.
Sweet + Salty Halloween Snack Board
Today I’m sharing my second Halloween themed board of the season and this one is my favorite because it’s so unconventional and just fun! I couldn’t really call it a cheeseboard because there’s no cheese involved, except cheddar popcorn, so I’m calling this a snack board! The formula for creating this is easy- just gather up all you favorite candy and sweet and salty snacks for Halloween and throw them together on one giant board!
Fun + Festive Halloween Cheeseboard
Halloween is just a week away and every year I love to make as many fun recipes as possible leading up to the holiday! So over the next week, I’m bringing you not one, but two, different takes on festive Halloween snack boards! This board is more along the lines of a traditional cheeseboard with the ingredients although I did make a few unexpected sweet additions! I tried to keep the overall color palette Halloween themed with plenty of pops of orange and lots of dark purple, chocolate, and bits of white. The end product is super bright + playful (not to mention tasty) and so perfect for celebrating Halloween!
Fall Home Tour 2018: Halloween Mudroom
The amount of Halloween decor I’ve collected over the years is seriously getting out of control. Over the past several years, I’ve transitioned to doing more autumn and fall themed decor and less Halloween because it’s easy to fit in with my everyday decor and I can keep it up for a little longer after October is over if needed. I still LOVE breaking out a little bit of classic Halloween and/or spooky decor though and usually add it to just one or two spaces for late October in my house. For the last couple of years, I’ve added it to my existing porch decor for the last half of October and to greet trick or treaters (see last year’s Halloween porch here!). Last year I also did a haunted/spooky room in Alex’s office downstairs (you can find photos of that here).
Tips + Tricks for Easy Autumn Porch Decorating
There’s a few basic guidelines I follow in my porch decorating that can really help you no matter the season, size of your porch, or style of decor! Below I’ve outlined 6 simple tips and tricks that will help you get started and decorate your porch like a pro! I also try to make it as easy on myself as possible to transition my porch quickly and easily from fall to Christmas and beyond- and these tips are perfect for that too! I’ve covered everything from materials, to placement, and styling without making it too fussy or complicated, so ANYONE can create a beautiful porch!
Fall Home Tour 2018: Living Room
The next space up on my fall home tour is my living room! I have been steering more towards all neutrals and pale pastels in this room lately so I decided to keep that feel for fall instead of adding my usual pops of orange and browns. I used lots of layered velvet and knit pillows on the couch in all different shades of cream. blush, and magenta mixed in with my favorite gold leaf pillows from Homegoods. I layered up the mantle a bit more than I usually do for fall by adding some eucalyptus garland and then piled up some neutral pumpkins on the threshold too. I always add lots of pumpkins to my built-in shelves, all white and metallic this year, and also added a few vases with simple fall stems.
Fall Home Tour 2018: Kitchen
Today I’m sharing the next room up on my fall home tour, my kitchen! I love to decorate this space for any time of year because there’s so many different areas and elements to refresh: open shelving, fireplace, table settings, and more! I usually use a lot of bright colors in here normally but add an extra pop of orange in as well for fall. I love how it looks mixed with the greens, blues, and gold accents I usually have in this space. Some of my favorite elements of this room are the simplest decor items- like the blue vase on the kitchen table filled with a tall autumn leaf stem; or the fireplace filled with a combination of firewood, bright pumpkins and gourds, and modern brass candlesticks.
Fall Home Tour 2018: Entryway
I’m kicking off my fall home tour today starting with my autumn entryway! This is always one of my favorite areas of my home to decorate for the changing seasons. There are a few things I do every year as far as decor, like the pumpkins up the stairs and garland on the banister, but I also like to add a few new elements each year too. This year I decided to use this vintage floral painting as the inspiration for the space. I hung it off to the side instead of centered on the back wall and then added a hanging metal bin on the other side to balance it out. I filled the space with lots of different fall stems and greenery too, including the gorgeous fresh leaf wreath from Trader Joe’s that I hung on the mirror.
