The Kentucky Derby Recipe Roundup 2023
Being born and raised in Kentucky, the derby is considered a holiday around here! I love the tradition of big hats, mint juleps, and horse betting, but I also LOVE creating traditional KY recipes to share with family and friends as we wait for the big race!
Easy Baked Hot Brown Dip
Hot Browns are a staple for any derby party or dinner, but so difficult to make and keep fresh when you have a lot of guests! This hot brown dip is the perfect way to enjoy the flavors of this classic Kentucky staple without all the work! You can serve this cold, or baked (like below- highly recommend), and it’s delicious with any kind of toasted bread, pretzels, crackers, veggies, or chips! Find all the ingredients and instructions below!
Mint Julep Fruit Salsa
This bright, fresh, and flavorful fruit salsa is the perfect addition to your Kentucky derby party spread! I have to admit I’ve always kind of scoffed at the idea of fruit salsa, but this recipe definitely changed my mind! The addition of the bourbon and mint gives this such a great depth of flavor and I was literally just eating it with a spoon! Serve with some sweeter crackers or chips (cinnamon pita or tortilla chips are ideal) or eat all alone!
Ultimate Holiday Charcuterie Board
The holidays is my favorite time to enjoy all the appetizers, especially themed cheeseboards and charcuterie! There are so many different ingredients and combinations for these but this board pretty much has it all! It’s a collection of the best of the best of holiday ingredients, flavors, and colors and makes the most stunning Christmas appetizer or meal!
Beef Tenderloin Cornbread Crostini with Horseradish Blue Cheese Sauce
Our Kentucky Derby might have been delayed this year, but now it’s right around the corner and we’re ready to celebrate in Kentucky, even in September. I always love putting together derby party recipes every year and this beef tenderloin crostini just so happens to be the perfect appetizer for any southern soiree! This recipe combines a few of my favorite foods + ingredients.
Candy Cane Caprese Board | Quick + Easy Holiday Appetizer
Today I’m sharing the quickest, easiest, and cutest holiday appetizer around- candy cane caprese! This is just like a traditional caprese except you make it in the shape of a candy cane for a festive holiday touch! I also added prosciutto to make it a little heartier (and even more delicious). It seriously doesn’t get much easier than this as far as holiday appetizers go and I promise all your guests will love eating this as well!
