ORC Pantry Makeover- Week 3: My Perfect Facebook Marketplace Find + Cabinet Layout

This week I finalized and ordered all the cabinets for the back wall of the pantry which will house the bulk of the storage for the space. I was able to get ALL the cabinets (uppers and lowers) for over 12 ft of space for under $1,700! This was a big win for me if you know how expensive cabinets can be and I was still able to get exactly what I wanted. This was mostly made possible by another lucky Facebook marketplace find of these amazing antique glass front cabinets! I was able to get 4 for $175 each and they just happen to be the exact size I need to go all the way to the ceiling on the top half of the wall. They have the most beautiful paned glass fronts and even little drawers at the bottom of each! I couldn’t believe they fit the exact size I needed not only height-wise, but also are a standard width so I could get lower cabinets to match. These will all be stripped and refinished/repainted and new hardware added.

Below you can see a rough mock-up of what I’m planning for the cabinet layout as well as my initial sketch for the space. I know it’s a little hard to picture as all of these cabinets are different colors in the sketch, but they will all be painted a uniform color/finish with matching hardware! The floating shelves in the center will also have antique brass brackets and be the same color as all the cabinets as well (or maybe even marble/same as countertops if budget allows!). I am also taking the doors off of most of the lower cabinets and adding a curtain there that can slide open and closed for some extra softness and vintage cottage charm!

The center cabinet is 60 inches wide and is a standard in-stock cabinet at Lowe’s. It’s usually used for a kitchen sink but I chose it for this space because it’s big and open inside and allows plenty of room or me to store some of my larger items. I can also use the two drawers at the top for some smaller pieces too. For the two cabinets flanking each side of that cabinet I chose to have drawers going all the way down. I think this will be useful for a lot of my smaller dishes, disposable party ware, napkins/linens, cutlery, etc.! I decided to put the sink location at the end, because I like the idea of having uninterrupted counterspace down the middle and having the sink over by the window! I know that I won’t have a ton of room in this cabinet with plumbing underneath, but I should still have a little space to store some things here too.

We also moved the antique bar furniture piece over to one of the entry walls this week and it happened to fit perfectly! This wasn’t my original plan, but I think it will work well here to house all the bar stuff in one location and I still will have some extra storage in this cabinet I can use for other things as needed too! I don’t have anything styled on here yet but did get all the bar stuff moved over to this location as I was cleaning out and purging the rest of the pantry. We were able to get rid of a ton so now I know exactly what kind of storage I need for what’s left!

Now that we have the cabinets, we will be meeting with a plumber next about adding the sink and then we have someone ready to install the cabinets in the next couple of weeks! I just can’t wait to get these all set up and start organizing and placing everything inside of them! Follow along here to see how this modge podge of cabinets transforms into a beautiful pantry space!

xoxo
