One Room Challenge 2021: Week 4- Lighting + Upstairs Nook

This week I’ve been focused on the upstairs nook and trying not to panic that we are already HALFWAY through the challenge. I also ordered a wallpaper BUT that is going to be a surprise for you to see later! In the meantime, take a look at some of these fun light fixtures and ideas I have in mind for the upstairs area of the entryway. I have added sections for you to vote for your favorites of each below to help me decide!

For the downstairs light, I want to do more of a fun statement piece. We don’t have room/height for a huge light but have one small pendant right in the center of the ceiling at the entrance. I am drawn to these vintage floral chandeliers and thought I could paint them a solid 1 or 2 colors to update them and make them feel more modern. Also I would choose a color that coordinates with the wallpaper and other elements in the room. Take a look below and vote for your favorites! Keep in mind I WILL be painting these so you don’t have to worry about color- more so just style.

At the top of the stairs right now, we have a small black metal flushmount and I would like to update that with something more fun, modern, and that will pop more! Keep in mind, we’ll be doing a little built-in desk area right below the light, as well as some built-in bookshelves around the window for a little workspace nook up here. Here’s some of my favorite options below and vote for your favorites!

Like I mentioned, upstairs we’ll create a little workspace nook that Alex can use as an office space. I want to get as large of a desk as I can fit on the stairwell side (will face the stairs up against the railing). Then around the window, I am planning some built-in bookshelves similar to some of the inspiration photos below. We’ll also add a rug up here to make it cozier! I also may add a touch of the downstairs wallpaper in a couple select areas up here like behind the bookshelves possibly!

I have narrowed down a few options for the desk below. I would like to have some drawers/storage but also think I prefer a mostly open look underneath to let as much light through as possible. I am leaning more toward the last two options for this at the moment, but let me know what you think by voting below!
