Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: How to Organize Your Bathroom

If you live in an older home like us, you are probably very limited on bathroom storage. A good way to combat the lack of space is by utilizing what you do have! The key is organization and making sure each item has a home and thinking of strategic ways to hide unsightly items. By using baskets under your vanity for towels, incorporating some open shelving, and maximizing vanity space, you can really make your bathrooms both functional and beautiful without having a ton of large storage spaces!

Thankfully, while doing the Linen Closet organization (linked here), I was able to do some pre-sorting which cleared out a lot of the overflow we had in our master bath. I ended up using a lot of the organizers I had from the kitchen, closet and other spaces that had some pieces leftover. I used small baskets and dividers inside of the drawers for things like razors, vitamins, contact solution and contacts. Adding dividers to your drawers is so necessary for keeping things neat and tidy and helps give everything a place and separation.

Under the vanity, I placed a large basket to store towels, which you can strategically also use to hide extra things underneath too. Behind the toilet we have shelves where we keep toilet paper, wash cloths, soaps, etc. Adding open shelving like this either above the toilet or on a side wall is a great way to add storage in any size bathroom. I put baskets on the shelves to hide some of the less aesthetically pleasing items or items that don’t store well without some structure, like wash cloths.

In our guest bathroom, we have no storage. When we renovated we had no need for storage, but now we do! To fix our problem, I added a rolling cart! What I love so much about the cart is not just the added storage that JW and I needed, but the simple fact that it can roll anywhere I need it! I also added a small shelf by the shower where I can keep soaps and shampoos that are easy to grab while you’re standing up in the shower.
