Beautiful + Unique Holiday Wrapping Tips + Tricks

One of my favorite holiday traditions is collecting unique gift wrapping items and going all out with my wrapping each year. Christmas may be over but I wanted to share some of my wrapping combinations and ideas from this past year as well as some tips and ideas for next year! My biggest tip for wrapping is to not buy traditional “wrapping stuff”. There’s so many unexpected items from the craft store you can use to make your gifts stand out! Below I’m listing some of my tips and tricks for wrapping the most beautiful gifts for the holidays!

  • Upholstery trim: you can buy by the yard- super cute and different than regular ribbon!

  • Curtain tie backs: these make amazing oversized tassels to tie on top!

  • Little bottle brush trees: these are available at any craft store in all shapes and sizes- perfect to tie on!

  • Let’s not forget about ornaments!: they’re all going on clearance by this point and make the cutest little toppers and whoever you gift to can reuse!

  • Any kind of little floral pick or greenery for wreaths/garlands works perfectly too!

  • jewelry bits and bobs (like little tassels and jewels): found in the jewelry section of the craft store- adds a fun little touch!

  • Cinnamon sticks and mini grapevine wreaths: you can tie these in a bundle on and they smell good!

  • Yarn: I find that a lot of people miss this but it makes for the cutest ribbon! Grab a really chunky one and you will have more than enough to wrap everything. I like to double mine up to tie extra large bows.

  • Ribbon: NEVER go to the Christmas section! I get mine from the floral/upholstery section always and try to get rich textures and colors that coordinate with my wrapping paper.

  • Stems: any floral stems (whether from the holiday or regular floral section) you can cut and divide up and get 5-6 mini stems out of!

  • I like to mix and match ribbons by tying one around the box in each direction and crossing in the middle! You can also layer ribbons on top of each other for a unique look too!

Tip: I like to layer a few different toppers and ribbons: a floral pick or two and a tassel or an ornament with a floral pick are some good combos but the possibilities are endless!

Tip: Use thin twine to tie on things like bells so you can get them tight! Don’t forget to add a piece of tape over the ribbon on the bottom so it doesn’t slide!
