My Most Popular Posts of the Year 2020
I always love getting to look back on what your all’s favorite posts of the year were and putting this post together each year! Even though most would consider 2020 a pretty crappy year, it’s encouraging to look back and see how much was accomplished despite it all and how much fun we had! There were lots of makeovers, DIYS, recipes, big announcements, fixer uppers and fun!
One of my goals is to make this a truly authentic space (even though I hate having to use that word) and for this reason you will see very little sponsored content on my blog, unless I feel I can fit it in with what I already post. Everything I share is something I WANT to share and enjoy doing, whether it’s an outfit, home decor, or recipe- these are all things I am actually wearing, making, and doing, start to finish, and would do whether I was sharing on a blog or not! I appreciate all of you for following along, sharing, and showing your support this year- it means so much to me! Thank you and here’s to 2021!
xoxo
Emily
The funniest thing about this post is that it wasn’t all that popular when I first posted it at the beginning of last year, but during the Christmas season this year, hot chocolate boards became a huge thing. The post started recirculating months later, even being featured in articles on Better Homes and Gardens and Pop Sugar, among many others. As a result, it become my most popular post of the year with a late year resurgence and it continues to get tons of reposts, features, and likes into the new year. I am definitely planning on doing another hot chocolate charcuterie board in January this year again.
Probably the most hands-on and biggest project of the year, was my playroom makeover! This project was my first round of the one room challenge and I had so much fun with the entire process! I am so excited to participate in the one room challenge again this year. This was also maybe my longest blogpost ever! I wanted to be sure to cover each section of the room and link everything that I used throughout the entire makeover.
Find the full post here with all the before and after photos of the projects, descriptions of each section and DIY project, links to shop everything I used, and more!
This was one of my favorites DIYs of the year and one that I continued doing even beyond this first batch of pots and vases. One of my latest discoveries is rubbing in some white chalk marks at the end and/or adding drywall mud before painting to add even more texture! I share everything you need for this DIY in the post, step by step instructions, and before and after photos of my vases too!
One of my biggest announcements of the year was about our newest fixer upper project, a boutique hotel and distillery. Alex and I along with our friend + business partner, Jarrod Williams , are excited to be working to bring another fun project to downtown Versailles! The project will include a boutique hotel, distillery, and restaurant that will focus on providing the essential Kentucky experience to our guests and our local community. Just like with The Amsden and our home, I'll be taking you along every step of the way through the renovation and design process so you can see the transformation (and then come celebrate with us and see it in person when it opens)! In this post I also shared a ton of my design inspiration for the hotel too if you want a sneak peek.
We announced this project immediately prior to the onset of COVID, which has definitely delayed us dramatically throughout the last year in wrapping up the closing and moving forward as planned. Honestly it has felt like non-stop bad news the entire second half of the year regarding this project, but we are hopeful to finally be moving forward and ready to share more in the first couple weeks of 2021. The one bright spot is that fundraising has gone amazing and we are so thankful for all our wonderful investors who believe in this project and can’t wait to make it a reality.
Oh my office, truly the never ending project, that is STILL not done! This was one of my favorite DIY projects of the year though and it really makes the entire space feel complete, even when it isn’t!
This is pretty affordable and easy to do, and is great for creating a large workspace with plenty of storage. I listed and linked the items I used, as well as the steps of how to put it together! I have loved have this workspace and have been using it constantly- it’s so comfortable and sits at the perfect height for crafting, art projects, or working on my computer. What I love about this project is that you can use the basic idea and materials I listed but really customize it to fit your own space/style! Whether you use different dressers, knobs, or a countertop- there’s so many ways to create this awesome built-in workspace on a budget and I’ve linked tons of shoppable items and ideas to do so below! Let me know if you try this project and how you make it your own!
