Dressing Room Before + After

My latest focus at the house has been finally finishing up my dressing room!  This space was not at all a priority when we first moved in and kind of became a hodge podge of temporary fixtures and furniture.  We painted the walls (Art Deco Pink by Behr), put down the new laminate flooring (from Lumber Liquidators), and changed the light fixture during our renovation but besides that, not much decorating had happened in here until recently.  You can see more before photos + my original plans for this space here.

The first step in moving forward with this space was finally convincing my husband to help me build these pipe clothing racks.  They were definitely not as easy as they looked, but I love the way they turned out and I have more than enough hanging space in here now.  I shared some more details on these racks and the assembly in my progress post here.

After finishing the clothing racks, I began choosing some furniture pieces that I actually loved to replace all the leftover random furniture I was using in here.  The velvet bench, vanity stool, and glass side table were Homegoods finds and the rug is a $5 steal from an estate sale.  I also found this desk that I am using as a vanity at Homegoods and I just spray painted the handles gold so that it would match the rest of the gold finishes in the room.  I grabbed lots of acrylic organizers and mini wire baskets at Homegoods too to organize all my makeup inside these giant drawers.  The shelves that I have above the vanity are all thrifting finds that I painted gold.

I am using the one open wall without clothing racks for my jewelry and accessory storage.  I've used this antique dresser in several different rooms in our old house and I chalk painted it dark navy to use in here (you can find the chalk paint I used here).  I placed all my jewelry displays on top of it- these are a mixture of vintage displays and new from Target (linked above).   I can also use the drawers of the dresser for more jewelry trays and organizers as well as for jeans, shorts, scarves, etc.  I added these beautiful wood + brass shelves from Target for purses above the jewelry table.  I love the clean + modern mid-century look of these shelves and the pops of gold.  The matching mirrors on each side of the dresser are vintage that I have painted quite a few times over the years, but I repainted them a medium gray for this room.

Another addition to the room is my shoe closet!  My husband made custom floating shelves to fill the closet perfectly and I stained the wood dark.  I also painted the inside of the closet a dark charcoal gray (with leftover paint from our entryway- Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams).  We also switched out the pull-cord closet light for a small industrial look pendant that hangs down slightly above the shelving.  I'd love to eventually get a cool old glass door to add to the front of the closet, but for now I will leave it open.

I ran out of shelf space for my hats so I used the blank spots above my vanity to just hang them on hooks!  I love the way it looks and it keeps them from ever getting smooshed too!

It feels so good to have one more project done and have such a pretty space to get ready in every day!  I even had to add a dog bed in front of the window because Hank and Dixie always want to be in here with me every morning!  If you have any questions about fixtures or details I didn't mention, feel free to ask!

xoxo
