Today I’m sharing a new space on my home tour that I usually don’t deck out for the holidays. We spend so much time on our side porch in the fall so I decided to add a few autumn touches this year! I kept it pretty simple, just adding a few cute pumpkins here and there in colors that would match the existing fabrics and colors out here. I also added a fall wreath to the tobacco basket, some pinecone garland on the blanket ladder, and updated the stems in the jar on my ottoman to something more fallish. One of my favorite touches was adding the pumpkins to the macrame plant holders! Such an easy way to continue to use these into fall, even when it may be too chilly outside for your plants! I was more excited than usual to decorate our front porch this year because we just completed a much overdue renovation of the porch which now has all new supports, stairs, and lumber all around. We have not gotten to stain the wood yet, but who knows when we’ll have time to do that, so I just went ahead and started decking it out for fall! This is a project we had on our list since moving in, as many of the boards had major cracking or holes in them, but somehow or another it always got pushed to the side. Now it’s as good as new and completely structurally sound as well.Read More
The next space up on my fall home tour is my living room! I have been steering more towards all neutrals and pale pastels in this room lately so I decided to keep that feel for fall instead of adding my usual pops of orange and browns. I used lots of layered velvet and knit pillows on the couch in all different shades of cream. blush, and magenta mixed in with my favorite gold leaf pillows from Homegoods. I layered up the mantle a bit more than I usually do for fall by adding some eucalyptus garland and then piled up some neutral pumpkins on the threshold too. I always add lots of pumpkins to my built-in shelves, all white and metallic this year, and also added a few vases with simple fall stems.Read More
Today I’m sharing the next room up on my fall home tour, my kitchen! I love to decorate this space for any time of year because there’s so many different areas and elements to refresh: open shelving, fireplace, table settings, and more! I usually use a lot of bright colors in here normally but add an extra pop of orange in as well for fall. I love how it looks mixed with the greens, blues, and gold accents I usually have in this space. Some of my favorite elements of this room are the simplest decor items- like the blue vase on the kitchen table filled with a tall autumn leaf stem; or the fireplace filled with a combination of firewood, bright pumpkins and gourds, and modern brass candlesticks.Read More
I’m kicking off my fall home tour today starting with my autumn entryway! This is always one of my favorite areas of my home to decorate for the changing seasons. There are a few things I do every year as far as decor, like the pumpkins up the stairs and garland on the banister, but I also like to add a few new elements each year too. This year I decided to use this vintage floral painting as the inspiration for the space. I hung it off to the side instead of centered on the back wall and then added a hanging metal bin on the other side to balance it out. I filled the space with lots of different fall stems and greenery too, including the gorgeous fresh leaf wreath from Trader Joe’s that I hung on the mirror.Read More
I'm fully admitting to my tendency to sometimes overdo it with the holiday decor. Exhibit A would be my front porch this year which I ended up DOUBLE decorating for fall then Halloween. I shared my fall porch tour here on the blog a few weeks ago but once mid-October rolled around I decided to deck it out even more for Halloween. The good news was that I already had everything used thanks to my holiday decor hoarding tendencies. Many of these pieces are vintage that I have collected through the years and they're just too fun not to put out for the holiday! The finished product makes me smile and totally puts me in the Halloween spirit every time I see it. I just love the classic Halloween look with pops of black and orange and kitschy, vintage Halloween pieces mixed in. I had not used this batch of decor for a while and I'm really happy that I took the time to break it out this year. I'm super excited to sit out here and greet trick or treaters tomorrow evening! Happy Halloween!
Porches are my favorite part of seasonal decorating every year, especially in the fall! I love making the space extra cozy and adding lots of natural touches like pumpkins, gourds, foddershocks, and plants. This year I decided to go for a more neutral color palette on the porch. I chose lots of white, light green, and peachy toned pumpkins and all white mums. I used foddershocks again on the columns in front and lots of dried hydrangeas to fill in some of my planters. I love to use a mix of vintage baskets, wooden crates, and metal buckets for planters that have a little extra character. On the chairs, I added a mix of patterned pillows and a vintage brown plaid blanket. Many of my porch decorations are thrifted or vintage but I've linked lots of similar options below for you to shop! Happy Fall!
Happy fall y'all! I'm so excited to share some more of my fall decor and today I'll be showing you my kitchen. I always enjoy adding some fall touches to our open shelving wall in here and some garland and wreaths to our corner fireplace. I try to reserve all my brightest fall decor for this space, since I have a lot of vintage kitchenware that tends to come in bright, kitschy colors. Pops of turquoise, orange, and yellow are mixed with lots of black and white as well as brass and gold touches. I always like to have fresh flowers in the kitchen too and Trader Joe's always has the best fall flowers every year. Some of my other vases, pitchers, and jars throughout the room are filled with wheat or faux leaf stems. I love the simple and natural feel of those arrangements and how much warmth they add to the space. As always most all my decor is thrifted, or a mix of Homegoods and Target. You can find more details on all our kitchen fixtures and renovation here. I've also linked a lot of those items, as well as similar fall decor for you to shop below!
