Primary Bathroom Makeover- One Room Challenge: Week 4- Plumbing Fixtures + Lighting
Here I am trying not to panic that this is the official HALFWAY mark of the 2022 One Room Challenge. I am really going to need to kick it into high gear this last month but I am ready! This week I’m sharing some updates about my plans for the plumbing fixtures and lighting in the space.
I went back and forth about updating the plumbing fixtures in here as our current ones aren’t that old and certainly aren’t outdated or anything! They do lean toward a very specific style though that I’m trying to get away from (industrial farmhouse), so I ultimately felt it would make a big difference to update. Also since we are keeping all the plumbing in the same place, it should be fairly easy and possibly even something my husband and I can do without a plumber (we shall see!). Thankfully Wayfair has come to my rescue as usual and agreed to collaborate with me to update my existing plumbing fixtures to brass.
Wayfair is always my go-to for the largest variety of plumbing fixtures and I also LOVE their search algorithm that allows you to narrow down selections through a ton of different styles, colors, sizes, etc. I actually got all my plumbing fixtures there when we did our initial renovation and have been very pleased with everything. I decided to go to polished brass for all the fixtures as I really felt it would pop more and give off the old-world, classic look I am going for. I tried to choose fixtures that had a bit of an antique/vintage feel but were overall very simple and classic. Take a look at what I chose below and you can click to shop any item. Again, thanks to Wayfair for sponsoring this portion of my One Room Challenge! I can’t wait to see them installed!
I did have a good idea of what I needed thanks to our previous renovation where I mixed and matched a lot of pieces to create the sets we needed. For example, I always opt to order a shower head separately, instead of a full shower system, because I like to customize the look of each. This means I usually have to order a secondary shower head I don’t need to get the control valve/diverter I want, but it ends up being about the same price as a full system anyways! For our shower, we actually have two shower heads so I need two diverters/control valves, one regular rainfall shower head, and one handheld shower head with wall mount holder. One reason Wayfair is always my go-to is that you can search for specific pieces like these and find a good variety of styles of each.
For the sink, I am swapping out both the vessel sink and the faucet. We really don’t need as large of a vessel as we currently have and would much rather have the counter space and we both agreed we liked the look of the round vessel better! We did consider just doing a more traditional sink inset in the new countertop, but that would mean losing all our drawer storage and more work/cost, so we decided to keep the vessel system for now. I am keeping a wall mount faucet but our new countertop will extend up with a backsplash behind it which will make such a difference! The sink faucet I chose is definitely the most modern of any of the fixtures but still very classic! I feel like it can translate to many different styles for years to come.
Last but not least, and much to my husband’s dismay, I am upgrading our toilet accessories as well! Many of my inspiration photos had wooden toilet seats and I just loved how they elevated the space. I went ahead and ordered one to try with a coordinating brass flusher too. There’s really no way to make toilets cute, but I feel like this will definitely help that little corner!
I also will be updating our lighting as this is an easy swap and will make a huge difference. I’ve narrowed down some favorite styles below and would love for you to help me choose a favorite! Again wanting to move away from the industrial farmhouse look and choose something more old-world feeling and classic. Use the checkbox to vote below!
