Primary Bathroom Makeover- One Room Challenge: Week 3- Wallpaper Top 3, Countertops, and More!

Welcome to Week 3 of my One Room Challenge! I have lots of updates to share this week about my primary bath makeover- read up below!

First things first- wallpaper! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for the wallpapers last week (and feel free to keep voting too if you missed it here. You can also shop the wallpapers in that post by clicking on them! I’m excited to reveal the top 3 contenders and I think I have narrowed down a favorite (but I’ll keep that a secret for now). Comment below which of these top three you think I should use!

I wanted to go ahead and pick the wallpaper this week so I can start painting the walls, vanity, and trim! We’re going all out with paint in here because the current paint is in horrible shape and I’m ready for a good solid, glossier color and cleaner looking walls! I plan on painting the walls, trim, AND CEILING. I am also planning on adding some wainscoting on the non-wallpaper walls. I am going to experiement this weekend with both faux wallpaper wainscoting that’s paintable (would be way easier for me to do on my own) as well as wall panels. Either one I would add some decorative trim to the top to make it appear as real wainscoting and all would be painted the same color. See some of my trimwork inspiration below.

As far as paint colors, I am definitely leaning towards mid-tones and moodier colors in here picking up some of the colors of the wallpaper. I am currently planning on doing the walls, trim, and ceiling one color and the vanity another color. See below for some current favorite paint colors- going between olives and slate blues at the moment- may just do a combo of both! I am also loving warm, taupe shades now so I am still open to adding in a more neutral color for the top half of the walls or ceiling possibly! Check out some of my color story inspiration below!

I have also finalized a SHOWER GLASS PANEL- it’s happening! I didn’t know if we would be able to fit it in budget, but a local glass company reached out and saved the day! I will be sharing more on them and the entire process of adding the shower glass when they come to install! I decided to not do a door, just one simple panel on the main shower side, which is what I’ve always pictured. I considered the gridded glass look, but in the end, Alex and I both decided plain, simple glass would be more classic in the long-run. See below for an example of what this will look like and it will be customized to fit perfectly in our odd-sized opening.

Final update- countertops! I am most excited about these and the LUXURY element they will add to this space! I am so excited to work with Counter Culture Plus, another local company, on finally completing our vanity. Check a sneak peek of the marble remnant I was able to find there below- it’s so gorgeous and has just the faintest hint of green veining throughout- which will go perfectly with any of the color scheme in here! We will be adding a full countertop and backsplash onto our vanity and hopefully also some shower shelves using the same material. I’ll definitely be sharing that entire process too! Can’t wait!

That’s all the updates I have for now but I finally feel like I’m going to start rolling this week! Hopefully next week I can actually share some updated photos of the space! Until then-

xoxo

Emily
