Here’s a list of ingredients I used, but you can switch or add on any other of your favorite meats or cheeses!
Inglehoffer’s Stone Ground Mustard
Green Olives (any variety)
Apples (any variety; preferably Gala/Fuji)
Salami (any variety- already sliced)
Prosciutto
Pears (any variety)
Blackberries
Sharp White Cheddar Cheese
Smoked Gouda Cheese
Dried Apricots
Goat cheese log
Fig Spread/Preserves
Figs (these can sometimes be hard to find but Trader Joe’s or Kroger’s usually has some kind of variety)
Cornichons (baby pickles)
Mixed Salted Nuts
Kale
Fresh Rosemary and/or Sage (for garnish- from produce section not the seasoning)
French Bread/Baguette Sliced
34 Degrees Crisps Crackers (in the cheese/deli section at Kroger)- Cracked Pepper flavor
Water crackers
Start by placing your largest items first, for me that was the cheeses! I spaced these out evenly across the board making sure there was plenty of space in between. I like to cut up about half the cheese into bite sized pieces and then leave a chunk to add some different color/texture to the board. For the goat cheese, I just unwrapped it and covered with a smear of fig spread in the center of the board.
Next I place the items that need bowls, as those also take up a good bit of room. I used some small bowls for both the mustard and olives.
I placed meats next, the prosciutto and salami, both in little piles, spaced away from each other.
Now I fill in with the fruit to add lots of color. I was sure to place the apple and pear on opposite sides (cutting about half of both into slices. The blackberries are perfect for filling smaller spaces.
The remaining items like pickles, apricots, nuts, etc. are all small enough to fill in your remaining holes- just space them throughout evenly distributing that color.
Finally I add a few of the bread and crackers in squeezed in between larger items to secure. You can also add a bowl beside the board if you like with additional bread or crackers. These items don’t necessarily need to be a part of the board either if you run out of room.
I garnish the edges of the entire board with some kale and fresh herbs to add a base of rich color.
Don’t forget to add some serving utensils for items that need it like the mustard and goat cheese!
Enjoy!
