Step by Step Plan for an Organized Home: Linen Closet
The next space up on my home organization challenge is the linen closet. Whether you have one of these in your bathroom, hallway, or laundry room, this space becomes a catch-all for so many household necessities and it's so easy for it to get cluttered and out of control. This is one space I had on my list to clean out and organize for quite some time now. I still would like to add a few things, but it is already looking so much better.
As always, my top tip would be to take everything you can out of packages and use lots of baskets and containers to keep everything corralled. Above I use one basket for medicine, one basket for extra soaps and toiletries, and one basket for washcloths. I also stack up extra toilet paper and have a paper towel holder on this shelf for easy access when cleaning. Cleaning out your extra toiletries and medicine every couple of months will drastically help keep this space decluttered throughout the year. I ended up throwing away SO much stuff that was old, expired, or empty.
I also have a few extra large baskets on the bottom shelf for bedding, sheets, and bath towels. Be sure to get as big of baskets as possible for these as these items tend to be larger and bulkier, especially when folded. I separate pillowcases into a separate smaller basket so that they don't get lost with the larger bedding pieces.
On the top shelves, I place all my cleaning supplies, iron and ironing board, vaccum attachments and extra mop heads/covers. I got this metal "clean and tidy" caddy at Homegoods and love how it contains all my most used cleaning supplies in an easy-to-carry container! I can grab it and carry it from room to room when I am cleaning without having to juggle all these different items in my hands at once. Below are some more of my favorite inspiration photos for the dreamiest organized linen closets.

I love how they used the back of the closet door for extra hanging space as well as how they utlized so many different sizes and shapes of containers throughout the closet. This space really does a great job of containing smaller items and choosing the perfect organizers for each individual item.
A great example of a basic layout for your linen closet and how to breakdown the shelf space.

Adding some hanging organizers to the back of the closet door like above is definitely something I'm wanting to do to finish off our linen closet. These are perfect for toiletries and medicine and practically double your storage space!
I can't help but love the neatly stacked kleenex, towels, and toilet paper in this linen closet. Wire baskets are perfect for linen closets because they allow you to still see everything easily while keeping it neatly contained.
I adore all the perfectly lined up baskets in this closet and the idea of stacking pillows. I could definitely use a "pillow" closet like this for all my extra decorative pillows!

I really like the idea of using the back of the closet door for hanging cleaning supplies like above. I also love utilizing the bottom of the closet for hamper space too.
