Our Fixer Upper: Amsden Updates
Notice anything different?! What a difference some new windows and a little paint can make! I decided to take a chance and go with a super dark charcoal trim paint for the exterior of the Amsden (the complete opposite of what it was before) and it turned out even better than I imagined! I think it completely changes the look of the building and adds a bit of a modern touch. I also love how it brings out the stained glass and the unique architectural details like the stonework.
Inside the building we're also making tons of progress. My beautiful tile floors are finally down in the coffee shop and the counter is so close to being complete as well. The cabinets and counter are just primed for now but will be painted the same light grey color as the window trim. You can also see the cardboard which is protecting the new zinc countertops on all the prep counters. The top counter will be white and grey marble and should be installed this week. Industrial lights have also been installed throughout the space.
Also......NEW DOORS! These were all custom made to replicate the original doors that were on the building. They are so beautiful and definitely a major upgrade from that nasty commercial door that was there before. That empty space in the tile right inside the entrance is a little surprise that I'll be sharing with you later this week!
You can see the little flip-up divider that we added to the coffee counter above. The menu board will be on that large white wall to the right of the counter and the back brick wall will be open shelving. I also have something special in mind for the top of that wall above the shelving.
I mean THIS TILE! I just can't stop staring at it. Everyone keeps asking me where it is from and cannot believe when I tell them it's from Home Depot. But it's true and they have so many amazing printed tile options online. I fell in love with this one because of all the variations and how it truly looks antique.
One more shot of the coffee counter area where you can see the windows and back of the bar a little better. I just ordered some simple brass cabinet pulls for the cabinets behind the counter. Below you can see a better shot of how the new front door looks from the exterior of the building. Don't they make such a difference? I cannot believe we're just a few weeks away from opening! We'll be working non-stop until then but I'm so excited for you to see the finished product.
xoxo
