Our Fixer Upper Holiday Home Tour: Christmas Entryway
all photos by Sarah E Dunn Photo + Design
Our little entryway continues to be one of my favorite spaces to decorate for holidays. I love being able to do unique things with the staircase and knew instantly I wanted lots of draped greenery all the way down the banister. I also wanted a tree at the bottom of the stairs and picked my favorite vintage flocked tree for this area. Everything kind of built off of that theme from there, lots of flocked trees and garland, pinecones, glitter, and snowy touches- the whole space feels super wintry and cozy. I've since added some fresh garland to the stairs and some twinkle lights (more photos to come of that later).
Can I just take a moment to declare my love for my newly discovered battery-powered twinkle lights?! These are a lifesaver for decorating older homes that don't have very many outlets, and also perfect for tight spaces where you don't want to have any cords showing (one of my pet peeves...I'm a little OCD about it actually!). These lights from Target have been my go-to, not only is the strand copper but it's SUPER thin (literally just a wire) and instantly blends in to any décor with no ugly cords! I was always skeptical about these battery-powered lights because I thought they would not be bright enough, or have a weird blue-tint to them, but these are a perfect warm white color AND super bright! I can't recommend them enough!
The back part of this entry sometimes feels kind of dark since there's no overhead lighting back there, so I'm loving the addition of the Christmas lights in that area. It makes the entire entry feel more complete and welcoming! Most of the items I used in this space were vintage or thrifted (many came from Peddler's Mall Stores), but I've also linked everything else at the end of this post! All these decorations make the space feel so cozy that I don't think I'll ever want to take them down!
