Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: How to Organize Your Children's Clothes

The next space up on our organizing challenge is kid’s clothing storage. Somehow I’ve never made a good system with how I organize and store JW’s clothes, so this was something I was really excited to get started. I have linked everything that I used at the end of this post for you to shop as well!

I tackled his dresser first. These adjustable honeycomb organizers are awesome for drawers! They snap together and can be customized to any shape/size. While they are typically used for socks and underwear, they are perfect for kids clothes because they are small! I used these for all his PJ sets and swimsuits.

I used smaller bins and boxes to organize his bigger, thicker clothing items. By folding the items and placing them with the rolled side out, it will give you a uniform and clean look. Using the bins to place items inside keeps them looking neat and separated (also it disguises less than perfect folding too!). It also opens up so much more space throughout!

I used bamboo dividers in between the bins to separate the random extra space I had above the bins so that I could use that as well.

I used a bin with lots of divided space (linked below) for his socks and winter hats. This could also work great for PJs or t-shirts kind of like the honeycomb divider. For his top drawer which has a variety of medicine, toiletries, and other items, I used a pack of bamboo dividers to separate everything and keep it looking neat.

In the closet I used two cubbies that fit perfectly along the bottom to add extra storage. Before this was just wasted space where things always got thrown and stacked up. Since kid’s clothes aren’t very long, you can definitely take advantage of that empty space below your hanging items! These cubbies are a great option because they come in several different sizes and configurations. You can measure your space and figure out how many/what combination you can fit and you’ll be shocked at how much extra storage they provide. Several of my bins are still empty right now but ready to use when I need them! I just happened to find crates to place inside that are the exact match to the wall color! Target has lots of great options for the crates in lots of good colors + even prints. The area on top of the cubbies is also very useful for stacking shoes, boxes, baskets, or whatever else you may have for the space. You can also leave the cubbies empty (or half and half like I did, if you want to use those for stacking clothing, displaying shoes, or other items.

For the hanging space, I switched to all the same hangers for a uniform look. I personally like the velvety hangers because they work well for a variety of clothing items and prevent any slipping. I ordered clips to match that can convert any hanger to a clip hanger for pants/bottoms. My favorite part of the hanging space though are these little wood separators/labels that you can use to organize clothing by size, type, or season!

I also added the clear acrylic shelf dividers on top of his closet to help clean up and organize his bags, hats and blankets! I used these in my linen closet as well and they’re a must for any closet now! You can shop every item I used and discussed below! Happy organizing!

xoxo
