Beautiful Home Organizing Challenge: How to Organize Your Laundry Room

Next up in our organizing challenge is the laundry room. I know this space can become a catch-all or daunting, but these are some tips you can incorporate regardless of the size of your laundry room area. It is possible to make your laundry area cute, functional, and organized well so I wanted to break down some things I incorporated into this space. I’ve linked some similar products below!

Since this is not just a laundry room, but also a mudroom, I had to get creative with the corner we had to dedicate to laundry! Adding the wooden counter and floating shelf added a lot of storage space. On the counter, I am able to store lots of essential laundry supplies, while also having room to fold and organize clothes. First, I highly recommend investing in some matching glass containers to store soap and detergent in. Especially if you don’t have cabinet doors to hide things behind, detergent and branded products can look heavy and cluttery sitting out on your counters and open shelves. I’ve linked some of my favorites below! (p.s. I actually spray painted the tops of my jars gold- they are just standard glass jars from Walmart that has metal/silver lids).

I also added a metal bin and small crate to hold other supplies such as paper towels, disinfectants, and more (things that are less attractive can be hidden in here as well). I was able to transfer most all of my cleaning supplies to glass jars/spray bottles (linked below) which allows me to refill as needed and keeps everything looking clean without a lot of distracting labels and colors. As you’ll notice with our other organizing challenges, I’m a huge fan of taking items out of packages throughout the home whenever possible before organizing.

Finally, I added a medium sized tray with some layered styling pieces that double as decor and are also functional. This is a great place to add in decor that is specific to your style. Start by finding a tray that you like in any shape or material. This will “ground” everything and keep it feeling organized and styled! Next, I gathered up a cake stand, candle, vintage glassware dish, and floral painted vase. These details make the space have some dimension and also incorporate my personal style! However, by adding laundry sheets to the vintage dish, cleaning supplies to the cake stand, and adding seasonal flowers to the vase- these items are functional as well.

Also, if you have the wall space, adding some hooks is another great way to increase storage, function, and design. You can use them to hang up a stylish drying rack, hangers, or even clothing items that need to be dried.
