Delicious + Decadent Hot Chocolate Board

To celebrate our 3rd annual hot chocolate week at the Amsden, I had to make another hot chocolate board for y’all! This is such a perfect winter treat full of toppings and treats to pair with your hot chocolate. I got everything for this board from Trader Joe’s and Kroger. This board can serve 8-10 people or more depending on how many toppings everyone wants! You can customize this too with a variety of different desserts and toppings- you definitely do not have to use everything listed or the exact same items either. You can find a list of all the ingredients and instructions for putting this together below!

serves 8-10

  1. I started by placing the bowls first. I used a regular sized decorative bowl in the center of the tray for the whipped cream (wait until the very end though to fill with whipped cream as it will deflate the longer it is left out).

  2. I used some mugs as dishes for the chocolate and caramel sauce as well. Placing these on opposite corners of the board, one top right, and one bottom left. Be sure to place a small spoon in each for serving.

  3. Next I added two more mugs for the sprinkles and powdered sugar, towards the middle of the board but again on opposite corners. This step is optional and more for presentation. This recipe obviously serves way more than two mugs but it can be fun for display!

  4. I added two empty mugs next (again opposite sides of board from where other mugs were already placed), which I would fill with hot chocolate before serving.

  5. Starting filling in the rest of the board with the largest items first spacing them out away from each other. I did the meringues, powdered donuts, pretzels and jumbo marshmallows first since they’re all similar in color and need to be spaced away from each other.

  6. Next I added all the various cookies, again spacing out throughout the board to evenly distribute color. A few of the cookies I placed in multiple places.

  7. Finally fill in all the holes with the remaining ingredients: chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, pecans, coconut, and peanut butter cups. You can use these in multiple areas if needed throughout the board.

  8. Make a pot of hot chocolate or two (use cocoa mix instructions) to serve alongside your treat and toppings board with more mugs! This can serve at least 8-10 people or more!
