A Visit to Hillenmeyer Christmas Shop

Sometimes you happen upon the most magical and inspiring places in unexpected spots, Hillenmeyer Christmas shop is one of those. Nestled in the parking lot (yes, parking lot) of Landsdowne shopping center is one of Lexington's best kept secrets, that only appears for a little over a month a year. The location usually houses Hillenmeyer flower shop selling seasonal plants and such throughout the year (they also have the best selection of pumpkins and gourds for fall) but right after Halloween, it is completely transformed from top to bottom into a Christmas wonderland. Some of my favorite decorating elements are greenery, wreaths, and plants so this place is seriously a dream come true for me. When my friend Sarah and I visited, we felt like we were "ooing" and "ahhing" at every inch and corner.
The greenery, fresh wreaths, and arrangements that they have here are just above and beyond anything else I have ever seen in this area, so unique and beautiful! They have an amazing selection of boxwood wreaths, all so lush and full, and available in a variety of sizes (they even have boxwood GARLAND, which I had never seen before but definitely need to get next year!). Any kind of greenery or unique elements for wreath making, garland, or winter arrangements that you can imagine are available here (even beautiful ribbons). The displays throughout the shop include antique doors, vintage chandeliers, old-fashioned signage, and twinkle lights galore (just a few of my favorite things)! They also have a gorgeous fireplace area with hot cider and marshmallows to roast, some adorable farm animals, and Santa even comes to visit on weekends throughout December! I was seriously ready to move right in and never wanted to leave! And if (like me) you have ever wondered where to find the gorgeous garlands and stunning wreaths you see in Southern Living or other holiday decorating magazines, this is it (and maybe even better!). Their approach to bring back "old-fashioned" Christmas traditions completely resonates with me and I felt that charm throughout their entire shop. Don't miss out on visiting this Lexington treasure, whether it's this holiday season or the next.
For our shop visit, I wore one of my favorite holiday plaid blanket scarves over a simple black swing dress. Wrapping a blanket scarf around you and belting it is one of my favorite ways to style these accessories and perfect for layering up in the cooler temperatures! Visit my blog post here to read more about my favorite styling ideas for blanket scarves, how to tie them, and shop our collection of blanket scarves in our online shop. I've linked my full outfit details below + added some similar options for you to shop at the end of this post!
