Our Fixer Upper Holiday Home Tour: Kitchen

Sometimes the best decor comes together without any kind of plan.  That was the case for my kitchen Christmas decor this year.  When I started sorting through my decorations and trying to divide it between each room of the house, I was stumped when it came to my vision for the kitchen.  I just couldn't picture the color scheme or style I wanted in here.  Then I spotted this picture on the One King's Lane Instagram, and my vision for this space started coming together.

I wanted to replicate the collection of various fresh wreaths above the fireplace and I also loved the pops of bright blue.  I already had some touches of bright colors throughout the kitchen, including in my vintage kitchen rug by the sink, so I thought I could add similar pops of those colors throughout the room.  I made all the fresh wreaths above the fireplace by using a small grapevine wreath as the base and then attaching fresh sprigs of greenery all around it using floral wire and greens from Trader Joe's.  I then added the bright ribbons at the top for a pop of color.

From here, the rest of my decor came together much easier.  I was able to use lots of vintage red Christmas decor, metallic bottle brush trees, and vintage ornaments that I already had in my collection from years before (mostly to style the open shelving in the kitchen).  I also purchased a few boxes of new ornaments from Target to fill in the rest of the tree with some more bright colors.  One of my favorite elements of the room is the giant metal "fresh holiday greens" bucket that I used as a Christmas tree stand.  I first spotted these on Liz Marie's blog last year and was thrilled when I found a few at Stein Mart this year!  The old knit vintage stockings I found at the Peddler's mall this year also just happened to be the perfect colors for the room (even though I had no idea when I bought them what my plan was for in here!).  As always, I've linked just about everything I could think of at the end of this post for you to shop, but if you have any questions about anything not mentioned, just ask!  You can find a before + after summary of our kitchen renovation including details on our lighting, fixtures, flooring, and more here.
