I LIVE for articles like this recent one from House Beautiful featuring rare photos of Lucille Ball and family around their home from the 1950s-60s. In today's world, every single facet of every celebrity's life is on display. whether we want to see it or not. 50-60 years ago when social media was non-existent, it was very rare to get any peeks into the personal lives of Hollywood stars. Lucy has always been one of my favorites and I still wake up to her every morning (thanks to Hallmark channel, and the fact that I have autotuned every TV in my house to their daily 3-hour block of I Love Lucy reruns.) I have several books filled with photos of her, but had never seen any of these rare photos until I stumbled upon this article the other day. The best photo BY FAR is this beautiful backyard portrait of Lucy in the most glamorous of garb with a gaggle of poodles. Her patio furniture is the most perfect pale pink and turquoise (and let's not forget to mention that fringed umbrella!) and her backyard is perfectly manicured right down to the adorable plant shelf on the back wall. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did and you can check out the full article here.
If you couldn't already tell, I have a Target shopping obsession. It is definitely one of my happy places and I love to just take my time and browse the whole store. It seems like each year, their summer line is right on trend and has everything I want for the season! This year they killed it once again- here are some of my favorite picks:
The Merona brand has come out with an entire line of easy, breezy summer basics, all in whites and creams! There are not many things I love more than a beautiful, flowy white summer blouse, so it was hard not to buy everything on those racks! They had tons of coordinating dresses, knits, and maxis, all with that laid-back bohemian summer vibe. These are definitely pieces that are worth scooping up, as you will wear them season after season and they will never go out of style! This pintuck tank was one of my favorites: it has adorable crochet trim and the most flattering and comfy cut!
I love the bright, fun tribal print of these bathing suit bottoms and the thick banded sides with mixed print make them super flattering as well! The best part is that since they are so colorful, you can mix and match them with tons of different tops!
I can't get enough fringe right now and this fringed bandeau top was the perfect compliment to those printed bottoms! The red really pops next to the bright print and the top is super comfortable as well!
Continuing with my fringe obsession, this fringed satchel is just too perfect for summer! The metallic gold will go with everything- without being boring, and the woven pattern is super unique! I love how the fringe is on three different sides instead of just one- super glam and chic!
These summer candles are seasonal and appear to be sold in-stores only. I spent a good 10 minutes smelling each one several times because they all smelled SO good and I could not decide which one to get! They are all in these adorable gold tins with chic geometric patterns on the outside. I ended up with "Nice Stems," a super light floral scent that smells just like a summer garden.
I always love Threshold's concrete planters and vases, and this year they added a gorgeous hanging version! Did I mention it's gold dipped too? I love the contrast of the metallic gold with the simple, earthy concrete and rope hanger. I got two and can't wait to get some gorgeous ferns for them and hang them on my porch!
I have been looking for some small accessories for the tables on my porch and these wicker coasters are the perfect addition! They will withstand the elements outside and add a little texture as well! At just $6.99 for a set of 4, they would also make a great hostess gift! They are part of the latest Threshold summer dining collection, which also has some cute table runners and dishes I'm going to keep my eye on!
Part of my weekend routine almost always involves a trip to the Lexington Farmer's Market. On Sundays the farmer's market is set up in my neighborhood, so there is no excuse not to swing buy and shop! We try to buy all our vegetables and our meat there each week. Here are some of my favorite finds that I seem to keep getting each and every week:
We have been getting our meat each week from Elmwood Stock Farm, a local organic meat and produce farm located in Georgetown, Kentucky. This week we got some organic free-range chicken, but we have usually been getting ground beef and roast (I used their roast to make my favorite Crockpot Roast Beef). Everything we have gotten here has been such high quality and absolutely delicious! They have plenty of information available on their website about their farm, what produce and meats they have available (with prices), their CSA program, and where/when they are set up at the local farmer's markets.
I also almost always pick up some cheese from Boone Creek Creamery. All their cheeses are completely handmade without any mechanical equipment right here in Lexington, Kentucky. They make their cheese with all natural JD Country Milk, from a family-owned dairy farm in Logan county, Kentucky. You really can taste the difference in quality and flavor between their cheese and other store-bought cheeses. They have over 20 different flavors available, most of which you can taste at the farmer's market. This week I got "Mamma Mia," a herb encrusted Italian flavor cheese that I plan to use on pasta and salads. Some of my other favorites are the "Wildcat Blue", "Smoked Gouda", and "Sassy Redhead." Check out their website for recipes, events, cheese classes, or even to join their "cheese of the month" club!
Another one of my farmer's market staples is the fresh pasta from Lexington Pasta. Their pasta has become really popular locally and can be found in many Lexington groceries and restaurants. All their pasta is homemade right here in Lexington and infused with natural flavors. I've tried just about every kind of pasta they offer and have loved every single one (the Lemon Pepper is probably my favorite). The pastas are so fresh and delicious that you can even eat them with just a little olive oil and seasonings, no sauce needed! If you love making pasta salad, fettuccine, spaghetti or any pasta dish- these will most definitely make any of your recipes even more delicious.
I found this Elvis poster while thrifting in Cincinatti this week. I LOVE the pastel pink background and gold frame. It looks just perfect on the wall of my turquoise room!
This vintage bathing suit has a great modern silhouette with such cute details! The halter strap is removable so you can wear it strapless too. The keyhole bust is super flattering and the cut-outs are so on trend for summer! You can shop it here.
I love all the Organix products and their shampoos and conditioners are my go-tos. Since Ulta always has wonderful buy-one-get-one sales on the Organix line, I'm able to pick up some of their styling products to try out. This sea salt spray smells fabulous and adds the perfect amount of texture to your hair without weighing it down. You can use it on wet or dry hair too! Shop it here.
I just love Loretta Lynn and "Coal Miner's Daughter" is one of my all-time favorite movies, so when I spotted this vintage mug at an estate sale, I could hardly believe my eyes! This treasure is an authentic vintage souvenir from the 70s from Loretta Lynn's birthplace right here in Kentucky. A perfect gift for any Loretta lover- you can shop it now here.
My husband put these in my stocking for Christmas and now I am hooked! I usually stick to super cheap drugstore brand face wash, but I can tell this has improved my skin so much that I am willing to spend a little more on it. The brightening facial scrub is super exfoliating (which I love!) and really deep cleans your skin, removing all impurities, while also brightening any scars or dark spots you might have. I get acne scars and dark spots very easily and this has really done wonders for my skin tone. I also am drawn to super grainy, coarse scrubs because they just feel like a mini-facial every time you use them! The night cream smells so lovely and really does just about everything you need for your skin: firming, moisturizing, and repairing. Sometimes moisturizers make my skin feel oily and greasy as they set in but this cream leaves my skin feeling so clean and fresh even hours later! The best part about all Acure products is that they are completely natural, organic, and certified fair trade. Their products use two of the most potent cutting-edge ingredients available: active stem sells and Chlorella growth factor. You can find their products locally at Whole Foods or Good Food Co-op, or shop them online here.
These stunning vintage antlers are another estate sale find. I was able to snag two mounted antlers from this same estate sale (one of which I just had to keep!). I love the leather and wood mount on this one and especially the gorgeous dark gray/brown tone of the antlers. It is so rare to find vintage mounted antlers in such good shape. These are from the 50's and even have the date written in pencil on the back of the wood! You can shop them now here.
Yet another garage sale find (I hit the jackpot the last couple of weeks), this giant vintage floor pillow fits in perfectly in my newly redecorated guest bedroom! I love the unique southwestern-style print and colors. Compared to the $50 plus you would spend on a new floor pillow or pouf at stores, I am very pleased with my $3 purchase!
I love the bohemian vibe of this summery 90's tribal print dress I found while out thrifiting. It has a unique wrap silhouette and is also a skort on the bottom! It is super flattering on and also so comfortable. I can see it paired with wedges and a clutch for dinner, or strappy sandals and a tote for daytime.
I have never made it out of Target with only the items I went in for. Twice I have come SO close to making it to the cash register with JUST the dog food I needed, or JUST the toothpaste I came for, but THEN i pass the wrapping section. They knew what they were doing when they placed this section right next to the cash register. I almost always grab some cute printed tissue, ribbon, or a gift bag when I pass by. For spring they have EXPANDED their Spritz brand wrapping supplies and added so many cute new things. I picked up some black and white stripe and floral wrapping paper, black and white polka dot ribbon, gold and white striped twine, and these cute clear/black stripe treat bags. Check out the new spring wrappings at your local target or at Target.com
I lucked upon these lace-up gladiator sandals at TJMaxx last week and I have worn them almost every day since! They are the perfect boho-chic summer sandal to add a little edge to any outfit. They also had these in black AND in a wedge version (that I snagged as well-oops!).

I found this oversized straw clutch while out thrifting and it is truly the perfect everyday summer bag! The straw makes it versatile enough to dress up or down and also gives it that super summery feel! It has a wrist strap, front snap closure, and is fully lined with a pocket inside! You can click on the photo below to shop it now in our online store!
I have been a huge fan of the JR Watkins cleaning products for a while. Their soaps and all-purpose spray cleaner are staples in my home and I always pick some up when I'm at Target (which is often). I recently tried their new coconut scent household cleaner spray and it smells so beachy and wonderful!
JR WATKINS household cleaner $4.70 at Target stores
I can't get enough southwestern prints for spring/summer. These pillow covers from our shop are the perfect way to add a pop of color to any neutral space! I just added a few to the bed in our guest room and love the way they look! We have a variety of prints and colors for you to shop at the link below:
THIS is probably my favorite find of the week. I love Elvis, I love vintage cookbooks, and this wonderfully tacky treasure is just too good to be true! "Are You Hungry Tonight: Elvis' Favorite Recipes" features dishes like Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwiches, Smoky Mountain Gravy, Pork Chops and Sweet Potatoes, and Good Ol' Apple Pie. I can't wait to try some of these tasty treats out! If you want your own copy, don't worry! There are lots more for sale on Amazon right now!
