It's finally patio weather season and there's nothing better than a cozy + inviting outdoor space. I'm helping several clients with porch and patio designs right now, so I've definitely got outdoor decor on the brain! I like to think of these spaces as just another room of your home that should be equally as cozy and beautiful! Since these areas are usually used as a summer entertaining space, I recommend adding in some pops of color and fun decor elements that might even be a little outside of your normal style! Patterns, textures, and bright colors will definitely give your space that warm and inviting feel. Starting by picking a few pillows or an outdoor rug will give you a good direction on your color scheme for the space. As far as furniture, I recommend investing in pieces that are comfortable, durable, and neutral (and that includes neutral cushions!). Outdoor furniture can sometimes be pricey, but the more expensive pieces will probably last longer and be way more comfortable (so you'll end up using them more!). You may have space for both a sitting area and outdoor dining space, but if not choose which type of seating you think you will use the most.
A few of my essentials for decking out your space:
1. a printed outdoor rug
2. several outdoor pillows in mixed prints + colors
3. a couple of lanterns
4. mix + match side tables + a coffee table, pouf, or ottoman
5. cute string lights or twinkle lights for hanging above your space!
6. planters: all sizes including hanging, tabletop, + floor planters
I've put together some of my favorite patio picks that are available now in-stores for you below! Even better, all of these items can work + coordinate together to give you the super bright + modern patio space of your dreams! You can click on any of the photos below to see more details + pricing of any item too. Happy shopping and let me know how your patio decorating comes along!

Last week was full of holiday decorating appointments and I'm excited to share some peeks of a few of them this week! This client wanted their front porch and dining nook decorated for the holidays. She also wanted some new artwork or wall hanging for above the turquoise piece that was a little more holiday themed. We decided to go for a large chalkboard, since she would be able to use it even after the holidays by just changing out the artwork! I found the chalkboard at Hobby Lobby for 50% off (sales rotate at Hobby Lobby so these are usually on sale every other week).
I was able to duplicate artwork for the chalkboard from an inspiration picture that my client sent me (see below). Most of the other accessories used were items that she already owned and leftovers from the rest of her Christmas decorating. Thankfully all the items went together perfectly and I was able to pull together some cute vignettes with them. The only things that I purchased to add was the fresh greenery, and glass cloche (which I added ornaments inside of). She had lots of cute little jars and bottles which I made a little more festive just by adding a couple sprigs of greenery inside. Since there's already some pops of color in this space, I loved having the mostly white + neutral Christmas decor in this area!
She also had some cute items to work with for the porch, including some wreaths, lanterns, and the "JOY" sign. I thought the sign would be a cute pop of color on the door so I attached it to the wreath to hang from the bottom. I also used another extra wreath she had and layered it on top of a fresh wreath to make it more substantial. I added extra wide burlap ribbon to both of the wreaths to tie everything together. We knew we wanted to use lots of lanterns and cluster them together. I filled the largest lanterns with some shatter-proof ornaments and then used battery operated twinkle lights inside them too. Above the door I hung a simple swag of fresh greenery and added a cute little banner garland on top from Target. The finished look is super simple and cheerful and definitely matches the decor inside of the house too! If you would like more information about our decorating services, it's not too late to add some festive touches to your home! Fill out the form below to set up your own consultation!
Yesterday I completed another holiday decorating project for a wonderful client who had the most unique and cool style. I love when clients have a very specific design style that I can work with, and this client's home was an eclectic mix of beautiful antiques, kitschy vintage, and gothic elements. She had some great vintage pieces for me to work with on the porch including an old metal sleigh, ornaments, and giant glittered snowflakes. You also may notice our two friends, giant antique gargoyles, who sit on the edge of the porch watching over anyone who may enter. I used many of her ornaments to create a custom wreath with lots of fresh greenery to make it super dramatic (I thought any porch with gargoyles calls for the most dramatic of decor!). I also knew I wanted to use the giant glitter snowflakes to create an over-the-top draped entry above the doorway. I began by draping two layers of fresh cedar greenery from Home Depot and then placed the snowflakes throughout at different heights. I finished by weaving in an extra wide, shiny gold ribbon for even more drama. I also piled some fresh greenery into the sleigh with a collection of gold ornaments and a small pre-lit tree set in the back for some height. On the other side of the porch I balanced it by placing the other pre-lit tree with an old concrete pedestal planter (also one of the client's items) filled with greenery and some gold ornaments. Last but certainly not least, the gargoyles just HAD to have a little festive touch. So I used wire and some greenery to create little wreaths around their necks and secured it with a bow! I think the finished design is a perfect mix of this client's favorite styles and also super glamorous and beautiful! I wanted to share another holiday design project I just finished up today. I was thrilled to get to decorate this mantle in a beautiful home in the Beaumont neighborhood of Lexington. The owner told me she used lots of pinecones, berries, and natural elements to decorate her tree in this room, which she sets up right next to the fireplace. She wanted to start from scratch with the mantle and do something totally different this year that would still fit in with her tree decor.
We were working with a budget of $100 to shop for items for this mantle and we came in just under that total. I also kept a few items that she had already on the mantle like the jars, and candlesticks, which I purchased new candles (from Homegoods) for that felt more "holiday" themed. For the garland on the mantle, I mixed a fresh pine garland from Trader Joe's with a pinecone garland from Michael's and some LED twinkle lights (from Target). The twinkle lights from Target were perfect because they also had little pinecones and red stars mixed in with them. The wreath, mini Christmas trees, silver bottle brush trees, and gold metal reindeer were all thrifting finds and the grand total for all of those items was under $40! The wooden "Noel" sign also came from Michael's, while the small pinecone arrangements in silver pots came from Homegoods. The look is simple + classic and the great thing is that most of these decorations are not so obviously Christmas, so they could also stay up throughout the winter months too!
