5 Easy Ways to Update your Living Room for Spring

      The time of year that is most challenging for me in decorating is definitely the January and February months.  I've packed up all my holiday decor but it's still a little too early for full-blown spring colors and accessories.  This year I was able to bridge the gap a little easier by incorporating some pale pastels and lots of layered neutral textures into my living room to bridge the gap between January and the beginning of spring.   As spring as crept closer, I've continued updating and adding more spring touches and accessories throughout the space.  I'm loving the feel of all the pale neutrals, layered textures, and pops of green- a little boho and a little farmhouse style overall.  I also got a new coffee table which I'm loving as it totally has the perfect modern farmhouse look.  Below I've listed a few easy eays to update your living room decor for spring while still keeping it super cozy!  Take a look at how I gave my living room a little mini makeover to wake it up after the winter months!

One of the easiest ways to update your decor each season is by switching out a few of your throw pillows.  For spring this year I'm loving a mix of pale pastels and neutrals in all different textures- velvets, linens, faux fur, and knits.  I've linked a few of my favorite pillows to help you achieve a similar look below:

    One of my favorite changes I've made in my living room recently was adding this light, Moroccan-style fringed rug.  I love how much cozy texture it adds to the space and the ivory color really brightens up the entire room.    I've linked my exact rug (which is a bargain!) as well as lots of similar rugs for you to shop below.

     This is basically my tip for every room, no matter the season- but spring is an especially appropriate time for adding some extra greenery into your decor.  I like to do a mix of faux and real plants on my shelves and side tables.  Faux plants work great on my bookshelves especially where there isn't much sunlight.  Homegoods, Target, and Pottery Barn are a few of my favorite places to shop for high-quality, non-tacky looking faux plants.  I've listed a few of my favorite faux plant options, from small tabletop pieces to larger trees for you to shop below.

    After packing up my holiday decor, I was definitely ready to keep these built-in shelves super minimal + clean.  I removed a lot of extra, unnecessary decor and kept plenty of space between items.  I like this simple, clean look for spring and into summer especially with the bright white color of the built-in shelves.  I use a mix of old books (turn them around if the spines are too bright or the colors don't match your decor), small accessories, faux plants, and vintage framed photos.

     Finally, I love to add a vase of fresh florals as a centerpiece on my coffee table throughout the year, but especially in the spring.  Lately I've been sticking to a mix of pale pink and purple flowers and I love how it looks with the rest of my decor, especially in this brass banded Magnolia vase.  I've linked my vase, coffee table, and a few more of my favorite pieces from this space below.
